What skills a pottery course participant learns
In Pottery you will learn a lot about pottery and how to use the potter’s tools, mixing the clay. During ten lessons you will pass a creative way of a potter: you will learn to center clay, stretch and narrow the walls, create products with handles and spouts and correctly prepare your products for firing in the kiln.
Bowls and teapots, bowls and vases, pots with lids, bells and candlesticks – all this you can learn to do in ten classes of the pottery course with our experienced masters.
The pottery course can be adjusted according to your interests, and the individual approach allows you to fully realize all your creative ideas.
Course structure:
1-2 classes
Getting acquainted with the material: types of clay, methods of kneading, tools required to work on the potter’s wheel.
We learn the basics of pottery: centering the clay, forming the bottom, stretching the walls and forming simple shapes. We make a candlestick, a bowl, a tumbler. We decorate with engobe.
3-4 classes
We practice stretching, expansion and contraction of the walls. We make a vase and a pot.
Basics of carving raw clay – pottery candlesticks, aroma lamps. We learn types of decorations, methods of texture and relief application.
Pottery with handles. We learn how to make handles and methods of fixing them.
5-6 classes
We learn how to grind the bottom of the product.
Pottery flat pieces – dishes and plates.
Techniques for making the lid. Pottery pot, butter jar, cheese plate with lid.
7-8 lessons
Practice narrowing and stretching the walls. Pottery vases, glasses.
We make bells and coins (miniature pots and bowls).
We learn to make a spout and make products from several parts – a teapot or a distillery.
Classes 9-10
Create complex pieces with double walls
Potter large oval, pear-like shapes with narrow necks.
We create large shapes – bowls for forums on a foot, vases.
Prepare items for firing.
